DxO has released a round of updates for DxO ONE users: one for the DxO ONE app that runs on your iPhone, another for the firmware of the DxO ONE camera itself, and a third for the DxO Connect app that runs on your computer.

Updating DxO Connect on your computer

Installing the update on the computer is easy. Open the DxO Connect app, and in the menus, go to Help > Check for Updates. If the app needs updating, the updater will be downloaded. Quit DxO Connect, go to your Mac's desktop and follow the normal process for installing an update: mount the disk image, then double-click the updater app.

You can of course go to the App Store's Updates screen to confirm that you have the latest versions of all your DxO software: Optics Pro, ViewPoint and Film Pack.

To determine the version of the DxO ONE app on your iPhone and the firmware version of your DxO ONE camera, click on the gear (Settings) icon in the app, then click your way to Application > About.





Checking app and firmware versions on the phone

Here is how you can check the versions for the DxO ONE app on your phone and also for the camera's firmware.

  1. Turn the DxO ONE on and connect it to your iPhone
  2. Open the DxO ONE app (if it doesn't open automatically)
  3. Click the gear icon to go to Settings.
    If you don't see the gear icon, you're probably in shooting mode. If so, click the mode indicator in the lower right corner of the screen. The mode indicator is a circle displaying the word 'Auto' or the letters A, P, S, or M, or one of the four scene mode icons (running, head, mountains, clouds). On the mode selection screen, you'll see the gear icon off to the left.
  4. In Settings, click the Application tab at the top
  5. Then click 'About'
As of October 28, 2015 and for at least a short while afterwards—until the next update—you will want to see that the app version is 1.1.4 and the firmware version is 1.1005.0000. 

As of October 30, 2015, you should be using app version 1.14 and firmware version 1.1005.0000. But check the 'Update Firmware' line on the About screen, as there will be more firmware updates in the future.


Updating the DxO ONE app on your iPhone

If your app version is less than 1.1.4, go to the App Store and download/install the update. 

Updating your DxO ONE camera's firmware

If the app version = 1.1.4 but the firmware is less than 1.1005, you'll see a link that you can click to download the firmware update to the camera. 

Before you start, make sure that your phone and the camera both have reasonably well-charged batteries. The update doesn't take long but it's best not to have either phone or camera die during the update process. If you've got the juice, then click the link and follow the instructions.

Be sure to follow the instructions on screen while the firmware is downloaded and installed. Be sure to keep the camera connected to the iPhone while this is happening.

When I performed the update, the download and installation process worked fine. I saw the progress of the download, and then the camera's OLED displayed a progress bar that showed the firmware being downloaded to the camera. When that was done, the app on the iPhone returned to normal operation. Except that my camera was now shut down and I couldn't restart it. I waited a few minutes to see if anything would change, then I contacted DxO Support via chat through their website. Within two or three minutes, the excellent support person had explained to me how to reset my camera and I was back in business. Apparently I had a glitch—what happened to me isn't support to happen—so I won't explain here what I did to fix it, because I hope you won't have this problem.

Once the camera was back in operation, I returned to Settings in the app on the phone and confirmed that I have the latest versions of both app and firmware.
